Scottish singer/songwriter Nina Nesbitt gave us Only Love as part of her The Apple Tree EP in April last year. The EP reached #6 on the iTunes downloads charts and #1 on the singer/songwriter charts after being played on BBC Radio 1.
The song is acoustic, with some excellent vocals from her too. There’s a sudden introduction of instruments in the chorus that randomly disappears afterwards, however I couldn’t fault it anymore. There is a gentle rhythm that is held continuously by soft percussion and a mesmerising melody.
This is a great playlist breaker, bridging a gap between the favourite songs and albums that are constantly on repeat, but unfortunately this song is only that, it’s not one that I would chose to play.
